Beyond Nine Review: The Best Linen Trousers

Beyond Nine Review: The Best Linen Trousers

Like many, I’ve always struggled to find trousers that actually fit. As a petite, hourglass-shaped woman, wearing trousers has never been comfortable, let alone finding ones that fit properly. It got so bad that I gave up on wearing them for over 20 years!

Thankfully, with more small independent brands now making clothes designed to fit real bodies in a range of sizes, there are finally more options for those of us who struggle to find clothes that not only fit but also make us feel great about our curves.

If you’ve ever been frustrated by the lack of clothing options that suit different body types and adapt to all stages of life, Beyond Nine is the brand you've been waiting for.

Founded by Naomi, Beyond Nine is all about creating stylish, comfortable, and flexible pieces that move with you—whether you're navigating pregnancy, battling bloated days, or simply embracing your body as it is right now.

This small UK-based brand doesn’t just make clothes that fit your body; they fit your life. Made to last, their pieces are crafted with eco-conscious fabrics and designed with circularity in mind to reduce landfill waste.

By using deadstock fabric and limiting stock quantities, Beyond Nine ensures each piece is thoughtfully created to fit the many seasons of your life. No need to completely overhaul your wardrobe for every new phase; these pieces evolve with you, saving you money, time, and space, all while helping keep clothing out of landfills.

Beyond Nine Review

I recently bought two pairs of Beyond Nine trousers—one second-hand and the other brand new—and I’m sharing my honest reviews on everything from sizing and fit to fabric and durability. Hopefully, this will help you decide if Beyond Nine belongs on your wish list!

Review Yoli Trousers Beyond Nine

Yoli Gingham Linen Trousers

Sizing has always been a bit of a headache for me, especially when it comes to trousers. As a petite hourglass woman, finding the right style is a never-ending challenge. Everyone has a different idea of how sizes should fit, and I wasn’t sure whether Beyond Nine trousers would work for me.

But after scouring reviews and finding a second-hand pair of Yoli Gingham Linen Trousers on Vinted for just £50, I went for it and bought them in size XS. I’m so glad I did. The fit is perfect.

The Yolo Trousers are loose but not overly baggy, roomy without being too oversized. Basically, everything you want in a pair of comfy trousers. The fabric has this lovely almost seersucker texture that gives it a bit of structure but still feels super soft.

Even though they were pre-owned, they’re in excellent condition, with just a bit of relaxation in the linen from wear. And that’s a testament to how well these trousers hold up over time. The linen is soft and comfortable, making them easy to wear all day without feeling restricted.

As for the style, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about gingham print or the cargo style, but they fit right into my wardrobe beautifully. I’ve worn them countless times since I bought them. They’re a great casual option, and the cuffed hem and cargo-inspired pockets give them some edge.

The Yoli trousers seem to be a limited edition and are no longer available in this gingham print. However, you can find a similar print in the Huxley style—though the fit differs slightly, so be sure to read my review before ordering. If you're after the Yoli style, there’s currently a black and natural option available.

Review Huxley Trousers Beyond Nine

Huxley Linen Trousers

After loving my second-hand Yoli Gingham Linen Trousers, I decided to order the Huxley Linen Trousers direct from the Beyond Nine website. I ordered the same size and I could instantly tell the difference in sizing and fit.

The Yoli style is relaxed and breezy, but the Huxley style has a more fitted, structured silhouette. The waistband is much smaller and more snug than the Yoli pair, which made me wonder if it’s because my first pair had stretched a little over time, or if it’s just a difference between the two styles.

The linen in the Huxley pair is a bit stiffer than the Yoli fabric, which is typical with new linen. It does need a bit of time to soften up. I steamed them before wearing, and that helped loosen them up a bit. With wear, I’m sure they’ll relax even more, becoming a bit looser and more fluid in shape. But they’re still comfortable to wear straight out of the bag just not as soft as the pre-owned Yoli pair.

I chose the Huxley trousers because I wanted a smart-casual option to add to my wardrobe. I only had one other pair of trousers, and getting another pair of the same style seemed a bit pointless. There are three other line options available: Mabel, Daisy, and Lexi.

The Huxley style is definitely a smarter choice with their dart seam details, tailored look, and sleek silhouette. They’ve got the same practical features as the Yoli style—pockets front and back and an elasticated waistband—but the fit and feel is more polished.

How To Style Beyond Nine

How to Style

Both pairs of trousers have quickly become staples in my capsule wardrobe, and I’ve already worn them more times than I can count. What makes them so great is their versatility. They can easily dressed up and down, and they work for every season.

What I love most is how seamlessly they fit into my existing wardrobe. They’ve opened up so many more outfit possibilities, allowing me to get extra wear out of a few pieces I wasn’t reaching for as often.

Review Beyond Nine

Sizing, Fabric, Durability and More

From sizing quirks to fabric care, there are a few things to consider before you make a purchase from Beyond Nine. While the trousers offer great style, comfort, and sustainability, some aspects—like the fit and durability—require a bit of attention. Here's a breakdown of everything you should know, so you can make an informed decision before buying a pair for your own wardrobe.

Sizing

Sizing for Beyond Nine trousers can be tricky. It's hard to say whether they’re ‘true to size’ across the board because, while I own XS in two different styles, there is a significant difference in the fit.

It makes sense that different styles would have different fits, but it would be much easier for customers if the website simply listed measurements for each style. They have the measurements, so I don’t get why they don’t provide them upfront!

Beyond Nine’s sizing runs from 3XS to 3XL, with UK sizing listed alongside each option. They mention sizing can vary by style and fabric, and offer fit advice on request. But providing specific measurements for each garment would be way more helpful.

A few reviews echo similar frustrations. When delivery can take a while and returns aren’t free, this becomes a real turn-off for customers.

Limited Stock

One downside to ordering from Beyond Nine is the limited stock, which often leads to long waiting times. Many frustrated reviews mention wanting to order but being unable to due to items being out of stock.

I got lucky with my order—a restock was coming soon, there was a pre-order pair in my size, and the dispatch date was only a couple of days away. But restocks can take weeks, and if you just missed one, you might have to wait much longer.

Personally, I love these trousers so much that I’d happily wait. They’re worth it, especially because the fit is perfect. However, for new customers, this can be really off-putting. I happened to catch the restock at just the right time, but if I hadn’t, I likely would have looked elsewhere.

About Linen

Linen is a wonderful fabric, but it has a few downsides. It’s not for everyone, and depending on your lifestyle, it might not be the best choice for your wardrobe.

Linen loves to wrinkle, which gives it that relaxed, laid-back look. Some people love the lived-in look, but if you’re someone who prefers freshly ironed clothes, you might want to think twice.

When it’s brand new, linen can feel a little stiff and rough, but don’t let that put you off. With a few wears and washes, it softens up and becomes a lovely, drapey fabric that's a joy to wear. Just be aware that it can absorb stains more easily, and some can be hard to remove.

Linen is also a bit high-maintenance when it comes to care. If you wash it too often, crank up the heat, or throw it in the dryer, you might find it shrinks on you. So, take it easy when washing and drying to keep it in good shape.

In my opinion, linen’s totally worth it. It’s breathable, light, and has that natural, effortless look. Perfect for warmer weather, and when layered, it works just as well in cooler temperatures. It’s one of those fabrics that gets better with time, even if it does come with a few minor inconveniences.

Durability

Linen is often praised for its durability, but in my experience, it doesn’t always live up to the hype. Several reviews mention their Beyond Nine trousers wearing out after just a year, which is disappointing.

It wore through within a year, and despite repairs, I only got about 18 months of wear. Spending over £100 on something that barely lasts a year can be off-putting. This isn’t a criticism of Beyond Nine specifically, but more of a general heads-up about linen’s wear and tear.

That said, Beyond Nine does handle these concerns well. They encourage customers to reach out if they experience any issues, offering repairs or inspections for affected items.

Taking proper care of your linen clothing is crucial to getting the most wear out of it. What we often consider normal wear and tear is usually the result of poor care. With linen, try to wash only when absolutely necessary and spot clean whenever possible.

Beyond Nine Review

Final Thoughts

I’m very happy with my Beyond Nine trousers. They're comfortable, stylish, and versatile, and the brand's commitment to sustainability makes me feel good about supporting them—especially when I’m trying to stick to my goal of buying no more than 5 items a year!

While sizing can be a bit tricky, and the limited stock might be frustrating, these are all things I’m willing to overlook for such a great product. If you’re looking for wardrobe staples that can grow with you, Beyond Nine is worth the wait.
