A Autumn 2023 Capsule Wardrobe

A Sustainable Autumn Capsule Wardrobe 2023

It's once again time to start transitioning from summer to autumn with a new seasonal capsule wardrobe. It won't be long before the air starts to feel crisp, the leaves begin to change, and a coat is required when leaving the house.

Dressing for autumn requires balancing the need to stay warm and comfortable when the temperatures drop while still wearing outfits that are stylish. A versatile autumn capsule wardrobe incorporates layering pieces made from warm natural fabrics with accessories to match.

This is how to put together an autumn capsule wardrobe with outfits that strike a balance between practicality and style to keep you feeling confident and comfortable throughout the season.

How do you put together an autumn capsule wardrobe?

Autumn is the season where our wardrobes have do the most work. The unpredictable weather means putting together a capsule wardrobe with stylish yet practical outfits requires a lot more consideration than any other season.

Versatile staples and reliable basics that can be worn in a multitude of ways are essential for making it through autumn comfortably. Choose items that can be layered and consider how they can be styled to maximise the number of outfits they create.

How many pieces in an autumn capsule wardrobe?

Most capsule wardrobes have around 30-50 items, although it really depends on your personal style and daily activities. The number of clothes depends on how many outfits you need and how comfortable you are with repeating them on a weekly basis.

I've found having 21 items in each seasonal capsule wardrobe, plus a few pieces of jewellery and other accessories, works really well. This provides enough items for numerous outfits and enough flexibility that I'm covered for the unpredictable UK weather!

My Autumn Capsule Wardrobe 2023

I'm not in a rush for summer to be over... but this weather really is forcing me to think ahead to autumn. Although we've had one of the hottest summer's on record in the UK, most days have been difficult to dress for.

It's been hot and humid with storms and plenty of rain. One minute it would be bright sunshine and the next torrential downpours—some of which I got caught in! Putting together an outfit that could handle such chaotic weather was virtually impossible. In all honesty, it's been nightmare.

I quickly realised my summer 2023 capsule wardrobe couldn't be worn in quite the way I had anticipated it would be. Thankfully, it didn't put an end to the summer activities. My capsule wardrobe was easy to adapt and I enjoyed wearing the outfits I put together—regardless of not always feeling very summery! That's the beauty of a well put together wardrobe; unpredictable weather never gets in the way.

I've been sharing how I've been wearing my summer capsule wardrobe with daily outfit videos on TikTok. So if you want to see a capsule wardrobe in action, follow me there.

While I love an all black outfit, it gets boring! I've noticed my style becoming more relaxed and a lot more playful lately. Over the last 6 months, I've been incorporating fun prints and colourful accessories into outfits, which has meant my all-seasons capsule wardrobe has gone through a bit of a transformation.

Vinted has quickly become my favourite place to thrift 'new' items for my wardrobe—and sell the ones I no longer wear! Here are my tips for selling on Vinted. It's an easy and affordable way to experiment with style in a sustainable way; something many of us want to do even with a capsule wardrobe.

I've also launched a collection of colour pop jewellery featuring enamel charms, crystal pendants, and natural gemstones. Layering these playful necklaces with minimal chains means it's possible to transform minimalist outfits into more interesting looks—without having to change your entire wardrobe or style!

This colour pop jewellery is ideal for transforming a minimal capsule wardrobe into a more playful one. You only need a small jewellery capsule to create multiple different looks with just a few pieces, which can completely change how an outfit looks and feels.
