A Week Of Sustainable Outfits: Spring

In my Spring capsule wardrobe post I wrote about filling in gaps to make my wardrobe more wearable, and that's something I achieved this season. My style inspiration boards have taught me a lot about what I enjoy to wear. Using Pinterest for outfit styling has given me the confidence to experiment. I've grown comfortable with my personal style, enough to be more playful with it.

Looking back at the outfits I wore throughout the seasons really helps to identify what's working in my capsule wardrobes. The jumpsuit I was so excited to wear didn't get worn at all. Neither did the floral vintage shirt I love when its on the hanger. There were also a couple of other items that, on closer inspection, had worn out and needed decluttering. If you need to do the same, these are my tips for decluttering your wardrobe.

This is what I wore in Spring. Hopefully it gives you a little inspiration for your own capsule wardrobe, and encourages you to wear more of what you already own. I've been sharing my capsule wardrobe outfits on TikTok @imsophiedavies and @omchofficial.

Outfit Details

  • Oversized Cotton Shirt (thrifted, 2022)
  • Chinos from Everlane (gifted, 2020)
  • Ball Necklace from Oh My Clumsy Heart
  • Raw Crystal Necklace from Oh My Clumsy Heart
  • Tote Bag from eBay (purchased, 2021)
  • Sandals from Dr.Martens (thrifted, 2021)

This Spring has been mild with plenty of warm days. At times it felt like Summer had arrived early. This is the outfit I've worn the most when the sun has been shining, in slightly different variations. It might be simple yet it looks like I've made an effort. It's just as easy to dress this outfit up as it is to keep it casual, which is why I love it.

This is very much a classic Spring outfit. When I'm unsure whether it's going to stay sunny or suddenly rain, this is the outfit I typically wear. An oversized coat over the top of a classic shirt and trousers with sensible shoes.

  • Cropped Cardigan from Boden (thrifted, 2017)
  • Maxi Skirt from MUJI (purchased, 2018)
  • Snake Necklace from Oh My Clumsy Heart
  • Tote Bag from YukFun (purchased, 2022)
  • Boots from Dr.Martens (thrifted, 2021)

I like the contrast in this outfit. The crop cardigan and maxi skirt combo highlights my hourglass figure. The chunky boots and a shock of colour from the bright yellow tote makes the outfit more interesting. It's a really fun Spring outfit to wear.

I love this outfit. It's a great outfit for an unseasonably hot day. The tiered maxi is effortless to wear yet looks great, especially with a cinched in waist and strappy sandals. I like to keep is casual with a silly baggu shopper but swap it out for a clutch and you've instantly switched the mood of this outfit.

Sometimes this season can be unpredictable. A heavy winter coat over a Spring dress and sandals can save the day. I thrifted this emerald green babydoll dress and it's been a useful casual addition to my wardrobe.

I've been enjoying adding colour into my wardrobe. This knitted vest is the brightest thing I own, and I love it. Basically a repeat of the first outfit, throwing a knitted vest over the top warms it up in a way that reflect the vibrancy of Spring.

  • Vintage Longline Coat (thrifted, 2021)
  • Vintage Jumper (thrifted, 2021)
  • Maxi Skirt from MUJI (purchased, 2017)
  • Snake Necklace from Oh My Clumsy Heart
  • Trainers from Hylo (gifted, 2022)

This outfit is a true reflection of a casual Spring day when you need to keep warm and stay comfortable in the unpredictable weather. I've been sneaking these trainers into my outfits wherever I can, when I need to run errands and want to go easy on my feet.
