I really struggled with Spring style inspiration. I trawled through my style board but finding photographs was tough. There was very little that stood out to me. Everything leaned too far into summer or not far enough out of winter. I'm desperate for Winter to end, and for the weather to improve so my outfit choices can be chosen based on my mood rather than the bad weather.
Outfits that are easy to wear are what I'm seeking this Spring. I'm noticing relaxed clothing, soft hues, and a little extra detail from tote bags and socks. Tank sweaters layered over shirts, draping jumpers over fitted trousers, and gentle greens that contrast nicely with my mostly-black wardrobe.
I finally discovered a colour palette that works for me by focusing on the hues that kept popping up in my style inspiration. It's been a real game-changer for me. On my Spring board, I can see the colour appearing in shoes, jumpers and, surprisingly, trousers. I'm excited to see how I can incorporate it into my own Spring outfits.
Hair styling also features prominently. Most notably scarves braided or tied into the hair. I'm really lazy with my hair care routine so realistically I'm not going to be styling it on a daily basis. I'd love to give it a try though. Vintage scarves are cheap and easy to find in charity shops so I'll be on the lookout for a couple to try this style with.
I'm aware that looking at style inspiration may encourage impulse purchases. I avoid that by looking for outfits I would actually wear, or could pull together from my existing wardrobe. This helps me to avoid feeling like I have nothing to wear by giving me inspiration for new ways to style my clothes. It's a useful method for reminding myself of the options I already have in my wardrobe, if I just put a little effort into restyling them.
