The holidays are the perfect opportunity to dress up and wear something special. Unfortunately, the 8 million holiday outfits we buy every year end up in landfill because one in three women consider a garment "old" after only a couple of wears. The idea that we need a new outfit for every occasion is turning our clothing into disposable goods.
Shopping for the "perfect" new outfit for every occasion is a lot of effort. Nobody enjoys the deceptive mirrors and poor lighting in fitting rooms, and struggling with ill-fitting not-quite-right clothing. Once you'e found that special outfit that makes you feel amazing, why shouldn't you wear it every time there's an occasion to?
It's likely you have some holiday plans coming up. Dinner parties with friends, work nights out, seasonal events, and, the big day itself. Not to forget the New Year's Eve celebrations too. An easy way to reduce your impact on the planet is to outfit repeat by wearing what's already in your wardrobe. There's no need to buy clothes if you have the style to wear the same thing on repeat without it looking the same every time.
I look forward to dressing up to celebrate, the holidays are no exception. What I don't like is the idea of buying a whole new outfit that only gets worn once, if at all. There's a real joy in wearing the clothes we love over and over. Successful outfit repeating all starts with one item you absolutely adore wearing. For me, that's the Everlane Corduroy Mini Dress. It's the ideal 'special occasion' dress. Comfortable and effortless, however you style it. The relaxed fit with voluminous sleeves, and defined waistband complements to my hourglass shape. The fine-wale corduroy is much smaller than average cords, giving the dress a velvet appearance.
This is the dress I'll be wearing for every holiday, birthday, dinner date, or party. Styled differently each time with sustainable jewellery to keep things looking fresh. The responsible way to wear a new outfit every day this holiday season.
