The holidays are going to look very different this year. No Christmas markets with loud crowds, large family gatherings around dining tables, or celebrations with friends - for most of us anyway. Whether you're having a socially-distanced gathering or celebrating on your own, this capsule provides some inspiration for what to wear during the holiday season.
My holiday capsule wardrobe combines two polar opposites: loungewear and eveningwear. Just because I'm staying at home doesn't mean I don't want to dress up to celebrate. In all honesty, I'm going to be spending most of my time in knitwear and joggers but I've chosen some dressier options that are almost as comfy to wear.
The loungewear I've picked looks dressier than typical sweat pant sets, and the eveningwear is not as dressy as I'd usually pick for celebrations. I like to feel put together and comfortable especially when I'm at home, so I've chosen clothes that tow that line nicely. Hopefully this mini-capsule will provide some ideas for what you might want to wear during the holidays.
French Terry Crew from Everlane (gifted). If you're looking for a sweatshirt that looks a little dressier than you'd expect, this crew neck is a good option. It's has a relaxed fit through the sleeves with an elasticated waistband that keeps it looking smart. This would be another good option and so would this.
Crew Neck Sweater from Everlane (gifted). Copper is such a seasonal colour, and one I absolutely love having in my wardrobe. This crew neck is lightweight with a classic fit making it ideal for layering. It makes joggers look more like an outfit choice rather than something you threw on, without compromising on comfort.
Joggers from Baukjen (new purchase). These joggers are perfection. They have an elasticated high waistband and tapered leg, making them appear much smarter than sweatpants. So much so that I'm happy to wear these as part of a casual everyday outfit. The fit relaxes slightly after a few wears but never so much the joggers look sloppy. For spending time on the sofa or running errands, they are a great choice for staying warm and comfortable during the holidays.
Maxi Dress from Baukjen (gifted). A typical choice for summer made winter-appropriate with a layer underneath and/or over the top. The trapeze cut with tiers under the bust and further down the skirt gives an elegant shape to this dress, making it a comfortable yet dressy choice.
Wide-Leg Jumpsuit from Thought (gifted). A jumpsuit is an excellent choice for getting dressed up while staying comfortable. I wear this jumpsuit to work in my studio with a duster jacket over the top, or with jewellery and a blazer for a sharp outfit. It's a hard-working staple that's a versatile choice for the holiday season.
Textured Cardigan from Everlane. This cardigan has a slightly cropped fit with a textured, voluminous appearance. Being a a touch too bulky to layer (I struggle to fit it under my coat!) it's better worn at home or on warmer days when extra layers aren't necessary.
Classic Clogs from Troentorps (gifted). With so many smart footwear options, heels just aren't something I'm interested in when a pair of clogs are both dressy and comfortable. These Troentorps Clogs have a small heel, a soft eco-friendly lining, and arch support and a waterproof for extra comfort. I can wear these all day without pain so why would I ever choose heels?
Slippers from Birkenstock (new purchase). Birkenstock make some of the best shoes, in my opinion. I own a couple of pairs of their sandals, and now a pair of slippers for wearing indoors and to the studio. They're incredibly comfortable and shape-retentive so they fit you perfectly.
Transit Bag from Everlane (new purchase). I try to go without a bag whenever possible. When it's unavoidable I like something small yet practical. The Transit Bag can fit everything I need - keys, cards, phone - while being roomy enough to carry some extras, like an umbrella, hand sanitizer, mask.
Shopper Bag from Ellyla (gifted). The ideal bag for running errands, dropping gifts off, or attending a (socially-distanced) gathering. It makes a casual outfit look more put together and is pretty enough to pass for an evening bag on less formal occasions.
Jewellery from OMCH. Jewellery is an everyday part of my wardrobe. It makes even the simplest of outfits look more polished.
Beret (vintage). A cute classic. I've been wearing this with all the outfits in my holiday capsule and it works so well.
